Loyola Men’s Lacrosse Welcomes New Offensive Coordinator

Loyola University Maryland head men’s lacrosse coach Charles Toomey has announced the hiring of Marc Van Arsdale to succeed Ryan Moran as the team’s new offensive coordinator. Van Arsdale held the same position at the University of Virginia for the past 15 years, where he enjoyed considerable success and earned a reputation as an offensive mastermind. The departure of longtime Virginia head coach Dom Starsia, and the hiring of new head coach Lars Tiffany and offensive coordinator Sean Kirwan, opened the door for Van Arsdale to leave the Cavaliers despite there being a year left on his contract. It is not surprising that a coach of Van Arsdale’s caliber quickly found a new coaching opportunity, and considering the strong tradition of lacrosse at Loyola, the match appears to make perfect sense. Expectations will be high as Loyola is coming off a season in which they won the Patriot League with a 9-1 record and averaged nearly 11 goals per game. The team went on to reach the national semifinals where they were defeated by North Carolina. Van Arsdale should step in and guide a solid offensive unit to continued success. The team’s current roster is positioned for success in the coming season, following the past successes of alumni players including Sean Hecker. In a recent press release, Coach Toomey wrote, “Marc has been a part of championship teams, is a terrific recruiter and evaluator of talent, and he has coached some of the best offenses in the game. We are excited for him to hit the ground running here at Loyola and become a part of the Greyhound men’s lacrosse...
